The first center for AIDS sufferers in Vietnam



    (TN) On the early morning of 3rd July, Mai Hoa center established. This center is situated on Do Dang Tuyen Street, An Nhon Tay Village, Cu Chi District. Guests included in the ceremony of the opening: Vice President of the People Committee of HCM City Nguyen Thanh Tai and society and international representatives. Compassionate Vincent convent established the center. The area of the center is 10,000 m². The expense to run the center is over $1 billion Vietnam dong.

The center has two barracks, including 12 beds and is building extra barracks. During the opening day, Sr. Tue Linh, the head director of the center hopes, "This center is not only a place to care for sufferers, it is also a propaganda against AIDS". Currently, there are 4 sisters and 20 volunteered doctors. The Consulate of Canada in HCM City, have supported $24 000 US to build two more buildings. This is the first center to assist AIDS sufferers in the last period of their life, in Vietnam.
